Interview with Zaytoven
That’s Her Magazine: Will you let us know a little bit about your movie?
Zaytoven: The movie I’m promoting is called Birds of a Feather, starring me and a lot of Atlanta rappers. If anyone knows anything about me and all the guys I work with, I take those same relationships I do music with and turn it into a movie. So the movie is basically about how I made it in the music industry. It’s some truth to it, but a lot of it is falsified; we had to add some drama to it to make people interested. It’s the music that we do, turned into a film.
THM: How did you come up with the name Birds of a Feather?
Zaytoven: I was actually doing an album with Gucci Mane and Rocko together…When we started recording, one of the first songs we did was called “Birds of a Feather” [which] we shot a video for. That was going to be the name of the project but we never put the project out, so I was going to make it a soundtrack because we had in studio footage that we were doing with it. Then I was like “You know what? Let’s shoot a whole movie to it and use the music that we [have] done as the soundtrack to the movie.”
THM: You guys have been touring everywhere. Where have you guys been going to let people know about this movie?
Zaytoven: We are just doing the southeast right now. We don’t start moving to the West Coast, New York, and places like that until Memorial Day weekend. We’re all over the south right but starting Memorial Day weekend, we’ll be out in California, the Bay area, Arizona; and then we’re going to New York. So we’re moving around.
THM: Besides the Movie, what else do you have coming up?
Zaytoven: I’m always doing music. You know in Atlanta [there] is always new rappers and new artists every couple of months. I’m staying in tune with the music; I’m working with new guys such as Young Scooter; A new group I’m working with called Migo’s; I have an artist by the name of Young Fresh [who] I’m working with that’s new. Then of course all the guys you already know me for working with like Future and Rocko and Gucci and all the rappers.
